Keynote: Unequal Treatment in Health Care and the Role of the Nursing Profession
Kenya Beard, EdD, AGACNP, CNE, ANEF, FAAN
When the Institute of Medicine (now the National Academy of Medicine) published the sentinel document Unequal Treatment: Confronting Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Health Care, many providers were astonished. How could health care providers who espouse to be humanistic and egalitarian contribute to disparities? Almost two decades later, the pandemic has heightened health care disparities. This session is designed for forward-thinking educators, clinicians, administrators, and researchers who seek to explore the role of nursing in eliminating disparities and advancing health equity.
